So easy to make - We keep some in the fridge all week long!
We have made this recipe in countless variations. You can add Lime Juice, Rice Vinegar, Miso Paste or even Truffle Oil to this recipe. The key is making sure you balance the salt and acid ratios. For example, miso paste tends to be salty, so when I add that I usually have to balance it with some rice wine vinegar or lemon juice. The 'alho & sal' makes this recipe so easy yet so flexible. Adding finely chopped dill and other herbs is also a favorite for sandwiches and burgers. At home I make make Aioli with 'alho & sal BASIL' so there's always a touch of herbs even if I don't have fresh available. The possibilities are truly endless.
3 Ingredient Garlic Aioli
Ingredients
¼ C Mayonnaise (sub vegan if you want!)
¼ tsp 'alho & sal' (garlic salt) or 1 crushed clove garlic + good pinch salt
1 tsp Your Favorite Hot Sauce (we change it up! Pics are w/Rooster Sauce!)
Directions
Combine
Cover
Chill
Thats really it! If you are not going to use it right away make sure to cover and put in a cold box so the Aioli stays fresh. I honestly think it always tastes better on day 2 after all of the components have married together nicely.
Here are some of our favorite Aioli flavor combinations and basic guidelines to creating your own!
All recipes start with base 1/4 C of your favorite Mayo +1/4 tsp 'alho & sal'
I use the BASIL version for all of my Aiolis.
You can add about 1 tsp of Acid (Lemon, Lime, Vinegar, Hot Sauce)
You can add up to 1 T of Herbs (if you want it really herby)
You can add up to 1 ½ tsp of other pastes or flavorings (be careful if they are salted!)
If you're using dry/powdered flavoring make 1 day ahead for best results
Scale the recipe up to fit your needs!
Creamy Miso (Miso Paste & Rice Wine Vinegar)
Spicy Miso (Same as above, but not omitting the hot sauce from original recipe)
Garlic & Herb (Dill, Basil, Oregano, Thyme & lemon juice)
Turmeric & Ginger (either dry or fresh ground Turmeric & Ginger)
Zesty Dill (Chopped fresh Dill & Lemon Zest)
Sun-Dried Tomato (Sun Dried Tomato Paste & Fresh Oregano)
Cilantro & Lime (Chopped Cilantro & Lime Juice - Make it spicy!)
Creamy Wasabi (Wasabi Paste or Powder & Rice Vinegar)
Creamy Horseradish (Horseradish Paste & Apple Cider Vinegar - Make it spicy!)
